Where Is The UK’s 1st Plastic Recycling Park?

The £165 million park by Peel NRE has been given the green light on the 5th of July, that will be built at Protos, the company’s strategic energy and resource hub near Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Richard Barker, development director for the Peel L&P subsidiary, said that the park would be “a UK first that will underpin the circular economy in the North West”. The facility will feature innovative processing and treatment technologies to help push the UK’s recycling rate and create a more sustainable future.

How Will This Park Help The Environment?

The recycling facility has the capacity to recycle 367,500 tonnes of plastic waste every single year. With plastic waste posing such a threat to the world at the rapid rates of its production and disposal, having a recycling park at huge scale will push to repurpose this rubbish into new products for the market.
