Co-op Has Employed Polytag’s Recycling Technology
Whilst co-op works towards boosting sustainability, Polytag is set to apply both unique-every-time QR codes and UV tags to Co-op own-label PET 2-litre water bottles. This process provides retailers visibility of its packaging during the recycling process.
What Is The QR Code?
The innovative QR code will be applied to the packaging of water bottles at Co-op. The code will then take purchasers to a Co-op landing page that shares the supermarket’s sustainability and charitable commitments.
What Is The UV Tag?
The UV tag is also applied across the label. This enables information to be captured in the recycling centre and is uploaded to Polytag’s analytics dashboard. The information provided includes insights on the packaging recycled.
Who Are Polytag?
Polytag work with packaging producers, retailers, brands, recyclers and governments. Its technology provides information about packaging lifecycles and works to boost a circular economy.
Rob Thompson, Packaging Manager at Co-op
“At Co-op we champion initiatives that enable a circular recycling economy for all packaging materials. The duality of the UV tag and QR code on our water bottles will enable Co-op to gain a greater understanding on a product’s journey in the recycling chain and provide valuable insight to shape guidance and measurement for future initiatives to encourage more people to recycle.” – SPNEWS
